What is a Virtual Private Server?

A virtual private server (VPS) is a virtual machine that runs an independent copy of an operating system (OS), and customers can allocate all the available resources without most of the restrictions of a typical shared hosting environment.

For almost any hosting purposes, they are functionally equivalent to a dedicated physical server but much more cost-efficient, highly scalable and provides a level of redundancy that most bare-metal (physical server) solutions are missing.

What is the difference between VPS and Shared Hosting?

What is the difference between managed and unmanaged service?
